1912 Craftsman Bungalow in Northeast Portland’s Hollywood District

This 1912 Craftsman Bungalow in Northeast Portland’s Hollywood District had a very cramped bathroom. An extra bedroom was converted for a more spacious main level bathroom to recapture existing space, avoiding an increased “footprint” on the environment. This green bathroom remodeling project is filled with reclaimed products! The original fir wood flooring was sanded and refinished with an environmentally friendly water based product. The sink and faucet are replica’s of the period style of the home. The medicine chest was recycled from the basement remodeling project done previously. The shower was built inside the existing closet space and features recycled glass tile, reeded glass for natural lighting, some old Chicago valves, and radiant heat takes the chill off of the floor inside the shower. The claw foot tub was purchased at Rejuvenation House Parts in Southeast Portland and refinished by Miracle Method a local subcontractor. The feet of the tub were refinished locally with nickel plating. The window replacement facilitated a Marvin Tilt Pack to keep with the beauty of existing wood windows.
